The Greatest American Hero fue una serie cómica de televisión que se hizo popular en Salta a mediados de los años 80. En los Estados Unidos se emitió durante tres temporadas, entre los años 1981 y 1983. Fue creada por el productor Stephen J. Cannell y protagonizada por William Katt, Connie Sellecca y Robert Culp. El nombre del personaje (Ralph) permaneció invariable, pero no su apellido, que pasó de Hinkley a Hanley. El cambio probablemente se debió a que Hinckley era el apellido del enfermo mental que atacó a balazos al presidente Ronald Regan aquel mismo año. Ralph era un superhéroe contra su voluntad, ya que recibió superpoderes de un grupo de aliens que le dieron también poderes sobrehumanos. El problema es que el héroe extravió el manual de instrucciones y jamás se enteró como funcionaban sus facultades. La canción de la serie fue compuesta por Mike Post (música) y Stephen Geyer (letra).
